Growth and internationalisation
Combining the Finnish culture of direct decision-making with the Swedish culture of consensus-driven discussion lowers barriers to finding a shared vision of growth with both Finnish and Swedish entrepreneurs and facilitates cross-border expansion. In recognition of its long-term work, Evolver was awarded the Platinum Award in May 2024 as the best Private Equity Growth investor in the SFR Alternative Managers 2024 survey. The evaluation criteria – developed in cooperation with Tesi – emphasized service quality and comprehensive expertise in addition to investment returns.
The firm’s success has also been recognized internationally. In April 2026, Evolver will be the only Nordic small-cap investor nominated for the prestigious Real Deals Private Equity Awards in the categories “Nordic Deal of the Year” and “Private Equity House of the Year – Small Cap.” The nominations are largely based on a more-than-fivefold return on the Nordic BIM Group investment and also reflect successful strategic value creation in a challenging market environment.
Tesi's role
Tesi has been a key partner and enabler for Evolver since before the founding of its first fund. Tesi’s involvement has brought Evolver not only capital but also credibility and a long-term perspective, facilitating the commitment of other investors to its funds.
Through its fund investments, Tesi aims to strengthen Finland’s private equity market so that private fund managers and other investors can take a larger role in supporting Finnish companies’ development and financing their growth. In this ecosystem, Tesi acts as a market-complementing investor that mobilizes private capital, with particular focus on scalable growth – an area in which SME-focused Evolver Equity plays a key role.
General information
Johan Porko and Lasse Kittelsen founded Evolver in Åland as an expert partner in SME financing and M&A when they were 29. Between 2010 and 2018, the company completed nearly 30 transactions, including 11 platform investments, laying a solid foundation for its current value-creation model. The year 2019 marked a strategic milestone when Evolver established its first fund.
Evolver has made investments in eight SMEs from its two funds and has already exited two. The sale of Nordic BIM Group holdings generated a more than fivefold return on invested capital (MOIC).
