Finnish Industry Investment Ltd made a ten million euro investment commitment to the Dutch Life Sciences Partners III Fund. The Fund's first closing took place on 13 June 2005 at 65.2 million euro.
Fund manager Life Sciences Partners (LSP) is a capital investment company that specialises in biotechnology and has a 15-year history of investing in the sector. The Life Sciences Partners III Fund has an active Finland strategy, according to which the fund strives to channel funds to Finnish biotechnology companies, either directly or through various company arrangements.
The Finnish venture partner for the Life Sciences Partners III Fund is Risto Miettunen, 48, who has held management positions in several medical technology and pharmaceutical companies, both in Finland and internationally. For example, he has worked for Orion Pharma, Siemens and WM-Data. Risto Miettunen has gained international experience in Germany, Switzerland and Sweden, and is a Doctor of Medical Science.
