Helsinki-based AI infrastructure technology company Verda has raised EUR 163 million (USD 189M) in new funding to accelerate the development of its full-stack AI cloud and expand its computing capacity. The financing includes an oversubscribed Series B round led by Emergence Capital, with participation from Tesi, Supermicro, MUFG Innovation Partners, 6 Degrees Capital (6DC), Varma, Lifeline Ventures, byFounders, and other investors.
Founded in 2020, Verda is building AI cloud infrastructure that enables organizations and developers to access high-performance computing capacity on demand and at scale. The company manages the full technology stack, from compute capacity to cloud platform services and AI research.
With the funding round, Verda becomes Finland’s newest unicorn. Verda plans to use the new financing to expand capacity, accelerate product development across its AI cloud platform and support a growing number of AI teams and enterprise customers globally.
The company recently announced that its annualized revenue run rate had reached USD 165 million and has expanded internationally with new offices in London and San Francisco, with further expansion plans globally.
“Verda is demonstrating remarkable pace as it scales full-stack AI cloud globally, and these are still the early steps. We are happy to continue supporting Verda as it strengthens its position in the European and global AI technology stack,” says Samppa Sirviö, Investment Manager in Tesi’s Venture & Growth Investments team.
Tesi first invested in Verda in 2025 and has continued supporting the company through multiple financing rounds. Tesi’s role in strengthening domestic ownership and its extensive networks play an important part in helping companies like Verda find the right investors at the right time. This helps anchor the benefits of growth, including jobs, tax revenues and new expertise, more strongly in Finland.
The investment supports Tesi’s strategy to increase the number of high-growth tech companies from Finland. Tesi’s goal is to help create six to eight new unicorns in Finland during its current strategy period of 2025–2029. Verda is the most recent one, with earlier names including ICEYE, IQM and Bluefors*.
