Virta provides smart charging solutions, and its EUR 85 million funding round is among the largest in the industry in recent years. With the funding, the company accelerates its market growth in Europe and the Asia-Pacific.

The round was led by Jolt Capital, a private equity investor from France. Other investors, besides Tesi, include Future Energy Ventures backed up by E.ON., Helen Ventures, Vertex Growth Fund, Lahti Energy, Vantaa Energy and Kotka Energy. In addition, Virta received a EUR 20 million innovation funding from Business Finland, which provides innovation funding for companies and research organisations.

Virta’s platform brings together EV users, the broad network of public charging stations and the energy system. Virta is also the fastest growing company in its industry in Europe, and it has been ranked for four consecutive years on Europe’s Fastest Growing Companies list by Financial Times.

With its operations Virta supports the growth of electronic transport and the use of renewable energy, and by doing so, the global decrease of CO2 emissions from vehicle transport. Ever since our initial investment, the company has actively developed sustainable operation models. It also has the leading technology in the European market of charging solutions”, comments Heli Kerminen, Investment Director at Tesi.

Tesi first invested in the company in 2021. A follow-on investment ensued in 2022.
